Private JACK ERSEL SLONE 35845418, U. S. Army. Born November. 20, 1918. Entered service June 28, 1944, at the age of 25. He served at, Fort McClellan, Alabama; Europe (ETO). Killed in action crossing Ruhr River, February 23, 1945 near Tetz Germany, at the age of 26. He served in F Company 405th Infantry Regiment, 102nd Infantry Division. He attended Phelps High School. He is a Protestant. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Slone, of Jamboree, Kentucky. Husband of Mrs. Mary Justice Slone, of Fishtrap, Kentucky. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM)American Theater of operationsEuropean African Middle Eastern Theater of operations MedalWorld War Two Victory Medal.
