Staff Sergeant S. VAN SKYE,

Staff Sergeant S. VAN SKYE, U. S. Army. He is the son of Mrs. Ethel Skye, 2010 White Street, Alexandria, Louisiana. He is also the brother of Captain WILLIAM EMILE SKYEand Seaman First Class JACK BENJAMIN SKYE. He was born January 23, 1911, attended Louisiana State University, and was an Agent for the Travelers Insurance Company prior to entering the service. He was inducted February 21, 1941, at Camp Livingston, at the age of 30. He received his Medical Corps training at Camp Blanding, Florida; Camp Bowie, Texas; Station Hospital, Camp Robinson, Arkansas, and Camp Myles Standish, Massachusetts. On November 31, 1944, he embarked for the European Theater (ETO), and he served in England, France, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany. Sergeant Skye participated in the campaigns of the Rhineland, and Ardennes. He has the European African Middle East Theater of Operations Ribbon, the American Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged at Fort Dix, New Jersey, on December 23, 1945.
