Captain WILLIAM EMILE SKYE

Captain WILLIAM EMILE SKYE, U. S. Marine Corps USMC. He is the son of Mrs. Ethyl Skye, of 2010 White Street, Alexandria, Louisiana. He is also the brother of Staff Sergeant S. VAN SKYE, and Seaman First Class JACK BENJAMIN SKYE.  He was born February 26, 1921 and attended Tulane University and the University of Wisconsin. He was inducted at Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 6, 1942, at the age of 21. He received his Officer Training at Quantico, Virginia. At Camp LeJeune, North Carolina, he was assigned to duty as Training Infantry Recruits. From there he was sent to the United States Naval Air Station, for Flight Training. On October 26, 1942, he embarked for the European Theater (ETO), and served at the United States Naval Operating Base at Londonderry, North Ireland. After two years duty there, he served with the Third Marine Division at Guam. Captain Skye was honorably discharged at Pensacola, Florida, on February 5, 1945.
