Seaman First Class JACK BENJAMIN SKYE 6458298

Seaman First Class JACK BENJAMIN SKYE 6458298, U. S. Navy. He is the son of Mrs. Ethyl Skye, of 2010 White Street, Alexandria, Louisiana. He is also the brother of Captain WILLIAM EMILE SKYE, and Staff Sergeant S. VAN SKYE. He was born February 19, 1925, and attended Bolton High School. He was inducted January 8, 1943, in  New Orleans, at the age of 17. He received his basic training at the Naval Training Station, San Diego, California. He then attended Gunnery School at Treasure Island, California, and at Seattle, Washington, also. On November 28, 1943, he embarked for the Pacific Theater, and he served in the Aleutians, Panama, Hawaiian Islands, Admiralty Islands, New Hebrides, Netherlands West Indies, New Guinea, Marshall Islands, Philippine Islands, and the Caroline Islands. He has the American Theater of Operations Ribbon, the Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and the Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged at New Orleans, on March 17, 1946.
