Ship’s Cook Third Class Elmer Elias Yates 3822320 US Navy KIA. He is the son of Elias Yates and Lizzie Larsen Yates of Box Elder, Utah. He was born on March 3, 1914 in Box Elder, Utah. He was living in Palisade, Nevada when he entered the US Navy. He was serving aboard the USS Arizona on December 7, 1941 when he was killed in action at the age of 27. He was Awarded the Purple Heart Medal PHM the American Campaign Medal the World War One Victory Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
