Private First Class EVERETT RAYMOND WILHITE,

Private First Class EVERETT RAYMOND WILHITE, U. S. Marine Corps. The son of Louis P. and Sudie H. Wilhite of Hosston, Louisiana. He was born October 24, 1925. After attending Hosston High School, he entered the service September 28, 1943, at the age of 17. His Boot Training and Advanced Training were received at Camp Elliot, San Diego, California. On January 27, 1944, he embarked for the Pacific Theatre (PTO) where he was stationed at Hawaii for five months for additional training. On June 13, 1944, he landed on Saipan, and was wounded in action June 15, 1944. After hospitalization, Private First Class Wilhite was sent into combat at Tinian on July 15, 1944, and was killed in action August 2, 1944 at the age of 18. He served in 2nd Bn, 6th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division.  His citations include the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) and the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) Medal.
