Ensign NEREUS WESLEY COLLINS, JR.
Ensign NEREUS WESLEY COLLINS, JR., U. S. Naval Reserve. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Nereus Wesley Collins of, 534 Gladstone Boule yard, Shreveport Louisiana. He attended Byrd High School, Centenary College and Tulane University. Entering the United States Naval Reserve on December 13, 1943, in Shreveport Louisiana, he was assigned to the V -12 Unit at Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana, for training. He went to the U. S. Naval Operating Base at Newport, Rhode Island, for officer indoctrination. On February 29, 1946, he began sea duty with the U. S. S. Cleveland CL 55. He was released to inactive duty at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 29, 1946. Ensign Collins was given his commission at Tulane University in February, 1946. He also has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from that university.
