Sergeant Curtis Duke Waller 34019024

Sergeant Curtis Duke Waller 34019024 US Army. He was born on November 23, 1918, the son of John Robert Waller and Maggie Mae Duke Waller. He grew up on a farm near Oxford, Mississippi. He was drafted into the Army on February 25, 1941, at the age of 22. He served in the 31st Infantry Division "Dixie Division”. He had his basic training at Camp Blanding, FL, and Camp Shelby Mississippi. He served in the Philippines and New Guinea. He was discharged from the Army in December 1945. He went back to Oxford Mississippi but had heard about a new VA Hospital opening up in Memphis, TN and he moved for the job. He meet Lt. Louise Marie Betcher Waller who was also working at the Memphis, TN VA, and on November 8, 1947 they were marred at the hospital chapel at the VA. He died on March 21, 2018 at the age of 99.
