Lieutenant CLYDE ADAIR TUCKER, JR. O-106350 KIA
Lieutenant CLYDE ADAIR TUCKER, JR. O106350 KIA, U. S. Navy. He is the husband of Clara Louise Tucker and son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Adair Tucker. He was born September 23, 1920, and attended Bolton High School and Louisiana College, Pineville. Entering the U. S. Naval Reserve in March, 1941, at the age of 20. He was assigned to the U. S. N. Air Station at Pensacola, Florida, for pilot training, and was commissioned at the NAS, Miami, Florida, January 7, 1942. He received carrier training at the NAS, Norfolk, Virginia Lieutenant Tucker was assigned to a scouting squadron for sea duty, and later served with a bombardment squadron. He lost his life in action as pilot of a plane which made a crash landing after attacking enemy shipping in a Norwegian harbor on October 4, 1943, at the age of 23. He has the Silver Star Medal (SSM)for gallantry in action, the Air Medal, the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) and European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations (ETO) Ribbons, and the Purple Heart Medal (PHM). He is also the brother of GEORGE MILTON TUCKER.
