Lieutenant (jg) GILBERT LEE TIERCE, JR

Lieutenant (jg) GILBERT LEE TIERCE, JR., US Navy R. Brother of Metalsmith WILLIAM MORELAND TIERCE. Husband of Jeanne Kennedy Tierce of, 4212 South Harvey, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was born September 9, 1922, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Lee Tierce of, 216 Vine Street, Shreveport. Brother of Metalsmith WILLIAM MORELAND TIERCE. He entered Naval Aviation June 26, 1942, in Shreveport Louisiana at the age of 19. He was at Naval Air Stations at Norman, Oklahoma; Pensacola, Florida; Deland, Florida; and San Diego, California. He was stationed with the USS Enterprise, the USS Hornet, the USS Shangri La. He was assigned to duty in the Hawaiian Islands, in Pasco, Washington, on Saipan, at Espiritu Santos, and on Majuro. He left for Espiritu Santos in the New Hebrides on January 29, 1944, and served throughout the bitter fighting for Saipan, the Guam operations, Hollandia, Truk, and Palau (PTO). Lieutenant Tierce returned to the States at the close of Naval Air Operations in the war in the Pacific with the cessation of hostilities and was honorably released from active duty in the Navy November 25, 1945, at the N. A. S. in, New Orleans.
