Private CARL MONROE STRONG 942285 KIA, U. S. Marines USMC. Born October 14, 1917. Entered service January 19, 1944, at the age of 26. He served at, Camp Pendleton, California; Pacific Theater (PTO). Killed in action on Iwo Jima, March 14, 1945 at the age of 27. He served in B Company 1st Battalion 28th Marines 5th Marine Division. Awarded Purple Heart Medal (PHM), Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal. Attended Duddly High School. He is a member of the Church of God. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Daily Strong, of Bulan, Kentucky.
