Shipfitter, Second Class R. L. STONECIPHER,
Shipfitter, Second Class R. L. STONECIPHER, U. S. Navy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. George Clawson Stonecipher, Haynesville. He resides at 42 Park Street, Malden, Massachusetts. He attended Haynesville High School and a trades school prior to entering the United States Naval Reserve April 12, 1943, in New Orleans. From the U. S. Naval Construction Training Center, Camp Peary, Williamsburg, Virginia, (96th Naval Construction Battalion), and the U. S. Naval Advance Base Depot, Davisville, Rhode Island. He was with the V-12 Unit, Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. He received Patrol Torpedo Training at MelVille, Rhode Island. On March 14, 1945, he embarked on the PF tenders, USS Varuna and USS Cyrene, with which he went to Samar and served in the Philippines and Borneo. He was in combat at Balik. papan on Borneo. Returning to the States he was granted his honor. He was discharge at New Orleans on March 23, 1946. He is also the brother of Lieutenant MORRIS WADE STONECIPHER, Staff Sergeant WILLIAM EARL STONECIPHER, Private REILLY BUTHAY STONECIPHER, SF2/C R. L. STONECIPHER, and Staff Sergeant DARNELL Evon STONECIPHER.
