Private First Class ALBERT MERVIN SINGLETON 39555370 US Army Airborne. He was born July 21, 1923 in Chula Missouri Chillichththe County Missouri. He entered the Army Paratroops on January 21, 1943, at the age of 19. He trained at Fort Benning, Georgia;  Camp Mackall, North Carolina; Camp Polk, Louisiana. He embarked for the Southwest Pacific Theater on May 1, 1944. He served with the 511th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 11th Airborne Division, on New Guinea, and  Leyte. He was Killed on December 12, 1944, on Leyte, at the age of 21. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, and Purple Heart Medal. He was buried on the Island until 1948 when his body was returned to the United States.
