Lt Commander William L. Singer
Lt commander William L Singer US Navy. He was born July 22, 1910, in Atlanta Georgia. He was the son of Joe Singer and Alice Mansfield Singer. He graduated from Okeefe High School and the University of Illinois. He was a Certified Public Accountant. He went to work with Allen B. Wrisley Company, a manufacturer of soap, glycerin and toiletries, as assistant to the president.At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 11 inches tall weighed 165 pounds had Black hair and Brown Eyes.
He served European Theaters of Operation and in the Pacific Theaters of Operation. He served as the Commanding Officers USS LST-734 from April 22, 1944 until November 1945.During this time he took part in the Capture and occupation of southern Palau Islands in September 1944. In October 1944 he took part in the Leyte landings. In October and November 1944 he took part in the Ormoc Bay landings in December 1944 he took part in Zambales, Subic Bay in January 1945. In April until July 1945 he took part in the assault and occupation of Okinawa.
