Private First Class CHARLES EDWARD SETTLE, JR. 20446976, U. S. Army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Settle of Trudeau Street, Natchitoches, Louisiana, he was born August 16, 1918. He attended Natchitoches schools, and entered the service January 6, 1941, at the age of 22. His training was had at Camp Hulen, Texas, Camp Callan, California, Camp Campbell, Kentucky, and Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, from where he embarked for the European Theater (ETO) April 18, 1944. With the 35th Infantry Division, 137th Infantry Regiment, he served as rifleman and light machine gunner, participating in the Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe. Private First Class Settle was given an honorable discharge September 26, 1945, at Camp Shelby, Mississippi, after fifty-six months in the service. His wife and daughter reside in Natchitoches.
