Corporal JACK L. SCHICK
Corporal JACK L. SCHICK, U. S. Marine Corps. The son of Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Schick of Shreveport, Louisiana, he was born November 24, 1922. After his schooling, he was employed by Libby-Owens-Ford Glass Company as a Glass Cutter. Inducted September 24, 1942, at the age of 19. He received his training at San Diego, California; Seattle, Washington; San Pedro, California; and San Francisco, California, after which he was assigned to the U.S.S. Washington. On January 19, 1943, he embarked for the Pacific Theater (PTO) where he participated in the campaigns of the Solomons, Marshalls, Gilberts, Marianas, and Okinawa. Corporal Schick, the recipient of the Unit Citation, was honorably discharged December l, 1945, at Camp Pendleton, California, after having served for three years and three months. His wife and son reside in Shreveport.
