Sergeant ERNEST E. Rives
Sergeant ERNEST E. Rives, U. S. Army. Brother of Major JAMES C. Rives. Son of Mrs. Etta J. Rives of Vivian. He was born March 10, 1927, and attended Vivian High School and the University of Oklahoma, being a student prior to his entrance in the Corps of Engineers (Combat) on April 26, 1944 at the age of 17. He was called to active duty on March 12, 1945, and received training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and Camp Crowder, Missouri. On March 12, 1946, he embarked for the European Theater of Operations (ETO) and was assigned to duty in Hamburg, Germany, with the Army of Occupation. Sergeant Rives is continuing to serve with the Army of the United States in Europe as of 1946. He was an employee of Lackie Funeral Home in Vivian during his high school career.
