Pharmacist’s Mate, Third Class LIMON THOMAS RAY, JR.
Pharmacist’s Mate, Third Class LIMON THOMAS RAY, JR., U. S. Navy. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Limon Thomas Ray of, 321 73rd St., Shreveport Louisiana. He was born January 20, 1925, and attended Ringgold, Hall Summit, and Plain Dealing High Schools prior to enlisting in the United States Naval Reserve on December 23, 1942, in Shreveport Louisiana at the age of 17. He was assigned to the U. S. Naval Training Station at San Diego, California, and the Navy Hospital Corpsman School at San Diego. He served at the U. S. Naval Hospital, Mare Island, California, and the U. S. Naval Hospital, Shoemaker, California, prior to embarking August 21, 1944, for Pearl Harbor. He served with the USS Manlove DE 36, and the USS Aucilla AO 56 in the waters of the Pacific Ocean, the Philippine Sea, the Balintang Channel, Luzon Strait, the South China Sea, Mindoro Strait, Guyo East Passage, the Sulu Sea, Mindanao Sea, Suriago Straits, Leyte Gulf, and the waters around China and the Home Islands of Japan. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Eniwetok, Ylithi, and Leyte, and supported many carrier strikes, having the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon (PTO) (four Campaign Stars), Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and Good Conduct Medal.
