PFC John W. (Bill) Price 358369 KIA

Private First Class John W. (Bill) Price 358369 USMC Marine Corps Reserve. He was born on March 12, 1924 in Williamsberg Kansas the son of Frank Price and Ida Price, of 223 East Elwood Street Phoenix, Arizona. He had 2 brothers one of whom was PFC Charles F. Price,  and 2 sisters. John attended Roosevelt School in Phoenix, Arizona. He entered the service on February 3, 1942 . He trained in San Diego, California. He served in Fox Company, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division. He went overseas on June 15, 1942. He served in South Pacific Theatre. Taking part in the engagements of Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Pelelieu. He served 32 months in the USMC 28 months overseas. He was Killed in Action on Pelelieu Island, on September 28, 1944, at the age of 20. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), The American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 battle stars (PTO), 2 Presidential Unit Citations, and the World War Two Victory Medal. His body was returned to Phoenix and laid to rest on October 18, 1948 at Greenwood Memorial park
