First Lieutenant MARION HAYES PRESNALL

First Lieutenant MARION HAYES PRESNALL, U. S. Army. Husband of Virginia Presnall, father of Marilyn McBride Presnall, and son of Mr. and Mrs. William W. Presnall. He is also the brother of T/ Sergeant, WILLIAM FORWOOD PRESNALL KIA. He was born around 1920, and entered service January 6, 1941, around the age of 20. He served at a dozen spots in the States with the Coast Artillery Corps and Infantry before and after receiving his commission at Officer Candidate School, Camp Davis, North Carolina. On February 17, 1943, he embarked for Trinidad, British West Indies, with the 99th Coast Artillery (AA) as range officer. On February 7, 1945, he embarked for Italy with the Tenth Mountain Division as a mortar platoon leader, executive officer, and Battalion S-3. Lieutenant Presnall fought in the Battle of the Apennine Mountains and the PO Valley Campaign. He has the Silver Star Medal (SSM), two Bronze Stars Medal (BSM), the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the European Theater (ETO) Ribbon, the American Defense Service Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB).
