Private First Class HENRY WOODSON PICKETT
Private First Class HENRY WOODSON PICKETT, U. S. Army. He is the husband of Doris M. Pickett, and father of James Henry Pickett. He was born November 27, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. D. W. Pickett, and attended Martin and Coushatta schools. He entered the Army on December 31, 1943, and went to Camp Blanding, Florida, for Infantry Training. On July 15, 1944, he embarked for the European Theater and served in France, Germany, and Belgium with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 8th Infantry Division. He served in the Campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe and has the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations (ETO) Ribbon with four stars, Good Conduct and Victory Medals, and the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) for wounds received in combat, December 29, 1944, in Germany. He was discharged December 31, 1945.
