Tec/ Sergeant, WILLIAM M. PETERS 38387660 US Army Air Corps. Son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peters of Greenwood. He is also the brother of CLARENCE PETERS, JR.  He was born December 31, 1922, and attended Greenwood High School. Prior to entering military service he was employed by the W. E. Callahan Construction Company, Dallas, Texas, as cost clerk. He is presently bookkeeper for A. C. Shelton and Son, General Contractors, Lawton, Oklahoma Entering the Army Air Forces January 25, 1943, in Shreveport Louisiana, at the age of 20. He went to Keesler Field, Mississippi, for basic training and to Kearns, Utah, for overseas processing. He embarked May 31, 1943, for Australia and the Southwest Pacific, serving as personnel sergeant-major with the 49th Fighter Group in Australia, New Guinea, Biak Island, the Philippines, Okinawa, and Japan. Technical Sergeant Peters was in combat in the Campaigns of New Guinea, the Northern Solomons, the Southern Philippines, Luzon, and the Western Pacific. He has the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operation (PTO) Ribbon with five bronze campaign stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one star, the Good Conduct Medal, and World War Two Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged on November 21, 1945, at Camp Shelby.
