Dr. Dominick (Don) (Dom) Frank Orsomarso 42075192 US Army. He was born on October 23, 1925, in Corona, Queens, New York, United States, the son of Austrian Immigrants Frank Orsomarso, and Angelina Aliano Orsomarso. Dominick Orsomarso graduated from Forest Hills High School and then attended NYU before being drafted. He entered the US Army on February 22, 1944 at the age of 18. At the time of his enlistment, he was 5 foot 9 inches tall weighed 140 pounds he had black hair and brown eyes. He entered G Company, 253rd Infantry 63rd Infantry Division on August 2, 1944 at Camp Van Dorn Mississippi. On October 5, 1944 he transferred to Medical Company 253rd Infantry. He served in Combat with the Medical company assigned as a combat medic to one of the infantry companies of the 253rd Infantry. His sergeant that he served under was Staff Sergeant Irving Koffman 31224031. PFC Orsomarso was wounded in Action on April 8, 1945 when pulling a wounded 253rd Infantry soldier to safety after that soldier was shot in the neck. A 17th SS Sniper used the red cross as a target on Orsomarso’s helmet, and shot Orsomarso in the helmet. The sniper bullet broke his skull and PFC Orsomarso would spend the next 4 months in hospitals recovering from this wound.

After the War he earned a BA MA MBA and Doctorate degree. He also obtained an Ed.D degree from Nova University in Florida. He served as assistant Superintendent and teaching positions in South Jersey Upstate New York Connecticut Nassau suffolk including East Islip for over 25 years. He married Marguerite Rocco on July 2, 1955, in Queens, New York City, New York. Marguerite was also a teacher and her most famous student was singer/songwriter Paul Simon. Marguerite and Dominick had 2 children Donald, and Gail. Dominick lived in Queens Village, Queens, New York City, and East Islip, Islip, Suffolk, New York. He died on 22 May 2010, in Saint James, Smithtown, Suffolk, New York, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Flushing, Queens, New York City, New York.
