Private NORMAN C. OLIVER 456005, Marine Corps USMC KIA. He is the son of Benjaman F Oliver and Ellen Oliver of Sayre, Oklahoma. He was born January 18, 1921, in Crafton, Texas. He moved to Oklahoma in 1929, and attended Sayre High School and Sayre Jr. College. He entered the service at San Francisco, September 5, 1942, at the age of 21. He trained at San Diego, California Private Oliver served overseas in the Asiatic Pacific Theater of War with the Company B, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, at New Zealand and in the Gilberts and participating in the battle of Tarawa. He was killed on Tarawa, November 20, 1943. He earned the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), Combat Action Ribbon Presidential Unit Citation (PUC) Asiatic Pacific (PTO) Campaign Medal, and World War Two Victory Medal.
