Ensign Howard Deal Merrill 0085057 KIA, MIA. He is the son of Leslie S Merrill and Eliza L Merrill of Ogden, Weber County Utah, he was born December 16, 1917. He served aboard the USS Arizona, and died aboard the ship on December 7, 1941 during the attack on Pearl Harbor, at the the age of 23, 9 days before his 24th birthday. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal PHM the American Campaign Medal the World War One Victory Medal, the World War Two Victory Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
