Pfc. Alton M. Mathis US Army. He son of Mr. and Mrs. Gip Mathis, of James Texas. He graduated from Valley View High School. He entered the US Army in 1942, he trained in New Orleans, La. He served in France, Germany and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct and ETO Ribbons with 5 Bronze Battle Stars. He was discharged in 1945.
