Pfc. Andrew Leboldus US Army KIA. He was born on March 18, 1919, the son of Mrs. Constantine Fiehrmann who formerly lived near Roscoe. He entered the US Army on February 24, 1942 at the age of 22 and service at Ft. Snelling. Having received training for duty in the Infantry, he was sent overseas in June, 1942, to the Pacific Theater of Operations. He served in H Company, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. Following active combat duty on Guadalcanal and New Georgia, he was killed in action on September 19, 1943 at the age of 24 in the Battle of Vella Lavella. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), The Bronze Star Medal (BSM), The Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), The American Campaign Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal (PTO), and the World War Two Victory Medal.
