He married Martha Beatrice Rice on February 4, 1941, they had two children. He entered the US Army on October 3, 1942 in Shreveport Louisiana at the age of 24. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 9 inches tall weighed 157 pounds had blue eyes and brown hair.He served in combat with 1st Battalion Headquarters Company, 382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on April 6, 1945 on Okinawa, at the age of 26. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, The Bronze Star Medal with a V and an Oak leaf cluster, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations, World War Two Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
