CQM Richard Paul Hughes 4110826 US Navy. He was born on June 4, 1917, the son of John Joseph Hughes and Jane E Kurtz Hughes. He had two brothers and two sisters. He enlisted in the US Navy on Sept. 17, 1940 As of Jan. 31, 1943 he was serving on USS Linnet (AM-76) in South Atlantic operations. He served on the USS Toucan (AM-387 on November 25, 1944 when the ship was commissioned and served in the awards 3 battle stars in the pacific. Both ships were minesweepers. He was discharged on October 23, 1945. In October 1945 he was 5 foot 10 inches tall weighed 140 pounds had black hair and brown hair. He died on April 6, 1992, in Wisconsin at the age of 74, and was buried in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
