Sergeant Glenn D. Head 37232582 US Army KIA. He is the son of Nellie M. Head, of Shawnee County Kansas, and was born in 1921. He entered the US Army on October 31 1942, around the age of 21. He trained at Fort Knox, Kentucky, Camp Gordon and Fort Benning, Georgia. He served in France, England and Germany. Sergeant Head was Killed in Action near Heilbronn, Germany on April 2, 1945; while serving in the 419th Field Artillery Battalion, 10th Armored Division, attached to the 63rd Infantry Division and the 100th Infantry Division. His remains were never found. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (BSM), the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), the Good Conduct Medal the European Theater of Operations (ETO) Medal with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, the American Campaign Medal, The World War Two Victory Medal and the Expert Shooting Badge for Rifle, Pistol and Machine Gunner. He is the older brother of Aviation Machinist’s Mate, Second Class William A. Head USN, Private Herbert C. Head USMC, and Seaman 1st Class DONALD F. Head USN.
