Fireman First Class Lawrence Moore Gray 3421831 KIA US Navy. He was born on June 29, 1921, in Wheeling, Missouri. He was the son of Edward Gray (Grayesky) and Bessie Ann Kaminsky and he had six siblings. He graduated from High School in 1939. He entered the US Navy on January 17, 1940. He trained at Great Lakes, Illinois. He served in the Pacific Theatre at Pearl Harbor Hawaii on the U.S.S. Arizona BB39. He served as a fireman working in the engine room when the Japanese attack hit the USS Arizona. He died on December 7, 1941, at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, at the age of 20. He served in the US Navy for 23 months. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, the Navy Presidential Unit Citation, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, the Navy Expeditionary Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.
