Sergeant Joseph Edward Galbally 13096066, US Army KIA. He was born November 18, 1918 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Edward and Anna Galbally. Before the war he worked as the vice-president of the Wickersham Printing Company. He enlistment June 24, 1942 in Philadelphia, PA, at the age of 23.He served in Company C, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division as an infantryman, he went overseas in November, 1942 and saw service in Africa, Sicily, France D-Day Omaha Beach where he was promoted to Sergeant, then through France to Germany. He was wounded and captured near Aachen Germany on September 18, 1944. He was held in Stalag XI-A (9A). He, died of wounds in a German prison hospital, November 6, 1944, his sister, a Philadelphian, was notified. He previously had been reported missing in Germany. He resided at the YMCA for several years prior to entering the service. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) The prisoner of war Medal, the American campaign medal, the European campaign medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
