He was born on September 6, 1923, the son of Laton Levi Fogelsonger, Beulah May Parsons Fogelsonger of 306 South Chilson, Bay City Michigan, and the brother of Private Donald L Fogelsonger 36889447 KIA. Private Elmer E. Fogelsonger, served in combat with Medical Detachment, 382nd Infantry Regiment, 96th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on November 7, 1944 on Leyte, at the age of 21. He was awarded the Combat Medical Badge (CMB), Silver Star Medal (SSM), The Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, The American Theater of operations Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater of operations, World War Two Victory Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal.
