Sgt. Charles E. Edwards
Sgt. Charles E. Edwards, US Army. He was the son of Mrs. B. Edwards, of Farris Texas and husband of the former Marjorie Duff. Entered the US Army in October, 1941 trained at Ft. Sill, Okla; Camp Roberts, Cal., Ft. Lewis, Washington and Camp Gruber, Okla.; He served in battery E 188 filled artillery regiment from 1941 until the regiment was restructured in February 1943 becoming the 957th field artillery battalion. He served in Europe in five battle campaigns including Normandy and the battle of the bulge. He served in the countries of England, France, Belgium and German with “B” Batter 957th field artillery battalion. He was awarded ETO Medal with five Bronze Stars, American Defense Medal, Bronze Stars Medal Good Conduct Medal, and other honors. He was discharged in September, 1945.
