Private First Class CHARLES W. DAVISON 312266 Marine Corps USMC KIA. He is the son of Charles Davidson and Decie Davidson of Poteau, Leflore, County, Oklahoma. He was born September 15, 1923, and entered the service June 3, 1941, at the age 17. He trained at Camp Elliott, California, and embarked for the South Pacific Theater in January, 1942. He fought on Tulagi, Gavutie, Tarambogs, Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, and Florida Islands, with Company F 8th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division and 2nd Marine Division. On November 22, 1942 PFC Davison was Killed in Action on Guadalcanal, at the age of 19. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), the Navy / Marine Combat Ribbon, the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO) Medal. His body was returned for reburial at the Vaughn Cemetery, in Gilmore, Oklahoma, on March 7, 1948.
