Monroe H Cook 38128891 US Army. He was born on June 3, 1917, in Bower, Oklahoma he grew up in Latimer, Oklahoma, the son of James Austin Cook and Jessie Ann “Dolly” Gunter Cook. He entered the US Army on May 27, 1942 at the age of 24. at this time he was living in McAlester, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma and was working for Hugh Firestone. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 11 inches tall weighed 130 pounds had Blonde hair and blue eyes.

In October 1943 Monroe H Cook was serving in H Company, 118th Infantry Regiment 30th Infantry Division at Camp Scott Iceland. On June 7, 1944 he was attached to company A, 118th from Company H 118th Infantry Regiment, 30th infantry Division. He served in the 30th division during the of NORMANDYNORTHERN FRANCE, campaigns. On Aug 6, 1944 he was transferred to Company H, 109th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division.

He was discharged on July 26, 1945. After the war he married Voy K Cook on Sept. 12, 1955 in El Dorado, KS. They were the parents of Dale Cook of Enid, and John Cook of Wichita, KS. He died on February 3, 1996, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at the age of 78, and was buried in Arpelar, Oklahoma.
