Captain ERNEST Stephen COLE O-471887, KIA NBD US Army. He is the son of Edward E Cole and Indaola Cole of Atoka, Oklahoma, he was born January 12, 1909, at Boggy Depot. He attended Atoka High School, Oklahoma University, and Tulane University. He is the husband of Dora Cole of Rural, Washita, Oklahoma. He enlisted in the service in Dallas, Texas, in 1941 at the age of 32. He trained at Camp Sutton, Camp Polk, and Camp Pickett. Captain Cole served in the States for 10 months and in the (ETO) Theater of War for 20 months with Company I, 302nd Ordnance Regiment, 3rd Battalion Headquarters. He died October 27, 1943, of yellow jaundice in French Morocco at the age of 34. He is buried in the North Africa American Cemetery Plot F Row 7 Grave 3. He was awarded the American Defense Medal, Europe Theater Medal with Stars, American Theater Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
