BOB BURROW 06293313 KIA U. S. Army. He was Fatally wounded in combat in Normandy, France, on August 8, 1944, at the age of 26. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ira N. Burrow of Haynesville and was born September 19, 1917. Entering the Army of the United States in the Infantry on March 23, 1939, in Texarkana, Arkansas, at the age of 21. He went to Fort Francis E. Warren, Wyoming, for infantry basic training and to Camp Wolters, Texas, in the supply service. He received special combat training at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, and went to Camp McCoy, Wisconsin, for winter maneuvers and ski training prior to embarking from New York for the European Theater of Operations. After intensive combat training in Ireland and England he made the landing on the beachhead in Normandy, France, and fought until his death in action. He had the Presidential Unit Citation (PUC), the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB), the European African Middle Eastern Theater of Operations (ETO) Ribbon with one star, and the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB).
