Lieutenant BEVERLY E. BOND,

Lieutenant BEVERLY E. BOND, U. S. Navy. He is the husband of Mrs. Evelyn Marie Bond, Calhoun, and father of Robert Golson Bond. He was born November 24, 1919. After attending Haynesville High School and High Point College in North Carolina, he entered the School of Theology, Southern Methodist University SMU, Dallas, Texas. He is a minister of the Methodist Church. Lieutenant Bond was assigned to duty as chaplain at Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Illinois, and Advance Base Training Detachment, Port Hueneme, California. On June 1, 1944, at the age of 24, he sailed for Pearl Harbor (PTO) and served at the receiving station there. Joining the 13th Naval Construction Battalion, he moved to Tianian Island in the Marianas. From there he was assigned to duty in Okinawa and the Ryukyus Group. Lieutenant Bond received his discharge in early January, 1946, in New Orleans.
