Private First Class EDDIE L. BARBEROUSSE 38522940 KIA , U. S. Army. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Bennie Barberousse, Jr., of Route 3, Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was born August 22, 1925, attended Natchitoches schools, and was assistant mechanic at Natchitoches Airport prior to entering the service. Inducted into the Infantry December 17, 1943, at the age of 18. He received his training at Camp Beauregard, Louisiana; Camp Roberts, California, and Fort Ord, California. On July 5, 1944, he embarked for the Pacific Theatre, serving as rifleman at New Caledonia, Guam, and Leyte. Private First Class Barberousse was fatally wounded in action December 8, 1944, at the age of 18. He served in Company G306th Infantry Regiment, 77th Infantry Division. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal (BSM) and the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) were awarded posthumously. His wounds were received when he advanced ahead of his squad and wiped out a machine gun nest single handed, killing seven of the enemy.
