Staff Sergeant John M. Ashford, Jr. 18020883. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ashford, and Rosa D Ashford of Aubrey, Denton County, Texas. He was born on December 24, 1920. He attended NTSTC UNIVERSITY OF NORTH TEXAS UNT. North Texas State Teacher College. He enlisted in the Army, on September 3, 1939. He went overseas with G Company, 358th Infantry Regiment, 90th Infantry Division, 3rd Army, in June, 1944. He was killed in action on August 2, 1944, at the age of 23. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for heroic achievement against the enemy and the Purple Heart Medal. His body was returned to Whitesboro Texas in 1948.
