Tec Sergeant CLYDE PATE 14016887, US Army. Brother of Staff Sergeant RAYMOND RAY PATEand Private First Class ROBERT L. PATE. Husband of Margueritte Elizabeth Pate, and father of Rita Marie Pate. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Morris C. Pate. He was born in 1919 and attended Grand Bayou High School. Entering the Army on September 5, 1940, around the age of 21. He served at Fort Benning, Georgia, Camp Beauregard, Camp Polk, Camp Young, California, Camp Pickett, Virginia, and Camp Kilmer, New Jersey, as platoon sergeant and squad leader with the Infantry. He embarked for the European Theatre of Operations on September 5, 1943. He served in England and France as a platoon sergeant. He fought in the Campaign of Normandy in France and was wounded in action on August 8, 1944, receiving the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) at the 159th General Hospital in England. He has the American Defense Service Ribbon, the European African Middle Eastern Theater of (ETO) Operations Ribbon with star, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was discharged October 8, 1945.
