Private First Class HENRY J. LEBLANC 38171220 KIA U. S. Army. Son of Simon and Mathilde Magues LeBlanc of, Route 1, Box 108A, Jeanerette, Louisiana. He was born January 5, 1906, attended Jeanerette schools, and was a partner in the LeBlanc Machine Works in Shreveport, Louisiana prior to entering the service. Inducted May 15, 1942, in Shreveport, at the age of 36. He received his training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, and at Camp Campbell, Kentucky. On February 7, 1943, he embarked for the European African Theater (ETO) where he served with an Armored Division in North Africa, Italy, England, and France. He participated in the campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, and in Europe, operating a machine gun on half-track, and was killed in action August 10, 1944 at the age of 38. He served in Company A, 41st armored infantry regiment 2nd armored division. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal (PHM) posthumously; and he had the Combat Infantry Badge. He had served for two years and three months prior to his death.
