Private Leroy E Staples  39683573 US Army KIA. He was born on April 7, 1914 the son of Mr. and Mrs. Amassa R. Clark, of 2129 Grant, Ogden Utah. He graduated from Ogden high school, and was employed at an Ogden cafe and at Ogden arsenal before joining the army.  He enlisted in the US Army in March 1941, at the age of 26, at Fort Douglas in Salt Lake City Utah. In June 1944 he was sent to North Africa with the 91st Infantry Division, 363rd Infantry Regiment. Pvt. Leroy E. Staples was wounded in action, in Italy on July 25, 1944, and was killed in action in Italy on September 28, 1944, at the age of 30. He is burred at the Florence American Cemetery, Florence, Italy. He was awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the European Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal, and the World War Two Victory Medal.
