First Lieutenant DONALD BRIAN BOYETTE
First Lieutenant DONALD BRIAN BOYETTE, Army Air Corps. Husband of Olga M. Boyette, of Bossier City. He was born June 28, 1922, the son of Mrs. Gladys N. Boyette and the late Brian B. Boyelte of Winnfield. He attended Winnfield High School and Louisiana Polytechnic Institute prior to entering the U. S. Army Air Corps February 21, 1943 at the age of 20. He received basic training at Sheppard Field, Texas, and preflight training at Ellington Field, Houston, then went to Harlingen Aerial Gunnery School for flexible gunnery and Childress Army Air Field, Texas, for bombardier training. From Biggs Field, El Paso, he embarked June 2, 1944, for England with the 44th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 68th Bombardment Squadron, stationed at Shipdham, England. He flew 31 missions over enemy-held Europe, including Normandy, Northern France, and 28 missions over Germany. He saw action in the bombardment at the breakthrough in the Battle of St. Lo. He has the ETO Ribbon with three bronze stars, the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters.
