Private First Class OSCAR REW BAGGETT,

Private First Class OSCAR REW BAGGETT, U. S. Army. Brother of Private AL DANIEL BAGGETT KIA, Sergeant SIDNEY LANIER BAGGETT KIA, Sergeant WILLIAM LEE BAGGETT. Husband of Clara Baggett, 1833 Southern Ave., Shreveport, and father of Clarence Rew Baggett. He was born March 20, 1919, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar G. Baggett of Shreveport. He attended Queensborough and Fair Park High Schools and entered the Army February 22, 1940 at the age of 20. He served at Camp Hulen, Texas, and San Diego, California, and went to Fort Bliss, Texas, as chief of section, serving also at Camp Pickett, Virginia, and Camp Stoneman, California. On November 22, 1943, he embarked for the Southwest Pacific (PTO) and served in Australia, New Guinea, New Britain, Biak, and the Philippines. He fought at Oral Bay, New Guinea, Cape Gloucester, New Britain, Hollandias Netherlands East Indies, and Bismarck Archipelago. He fought on Leyte and Luzon in the Philippines. He has the Asiatic Pacific Theater (PTO) of Operations Ribbon with four bronze campaign stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart Medal (PHM), the American Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He was wounded in line of duty April 14, 1945, and missing in action March 12-16, 1945. He died December 1, 1949 at the age of 30. He served in the HQ Battalion 604th Coast Artillery.
