Chief Petty Officer John G. Honsel Jr. 650 05 60 US Navy. He was born on Dec 21, 1916 in Coplay, Lehigh, Pennsylvania, the son of John Honsel Sr. and Anna Honsel. He was married to Mary Pyle Honsel they had 2 children Kathy Honsel Putt and John Honsel. He was a graduate of Coplay High School in Coplay Penn. In 1940 he was serving as the manager of the Coplay High School baseball team. By 1950 he was living at 22 North fivth St Coplay Pa. He entered the US Navy on October 15, 1941 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 10 inches tall weighed 185 pounds had Brown hair and gray eyes. He served in the US Navy during WW2 and the Korean War. By the Korean war he was a Chief Petty Officer. During WW2 he served on the USS Vixen (PG-53) and the USS Constellation cv-64. After the Navy he worked for Beneficial Management Corp for 35 years retiring in 1981. After his retirement he was an active member of the Cumberland County Historical Society the friends of the Bosler free Library VFW Post 477 and Carlisle AARP Chapter 3378 where he had served as legislative chairman. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed membership at the Cumberland gold course. He lived in Carlisle, Cumberland, Pennsylvania, He did on Aug 1, 2005.
