Coxswain James Ray Axe 8395718, US Navy. He was born May 12, 1925. He was the son of Carl Henry Axe and Dovie Mae Rogers Axe of Rowlett, Texas. He was the brother of PFC Charles “Bo” Wesley Axe KIA, S/SGT. Maurice Irving Axe, Elsie Louise "Rusty" Axe, and Carl R. Axe Jr. James attended the Garland High School, in Garland, Texas. He entered the US Navy on September 10, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. At the time of his enlistment, he was 5 foot 10 inches tall weighed 145 Pounds had brown hair and gray eyes. Coxswain Axe was assigned to the 3rd Fleet Cruiser and trained at United States Navy Training Station, San Diego, California, serving in the Pacific abord USS Anchor ARS13. He received his discharge February 18, 1946. After the war he married Elizabeth Ann Harrison Axe, they had one daughter. He died on May 24, 2014, at the age of 89, and was buried in Sachse, Texas.
