S/SGT. Maurice Irving Axe, 38283223
S/SGT. Maurice Irving Axe, 38283223 US Army. He was born April 7, 1922. He was the son of Carl Henry Axe and Dovie Mae Rogers Axe, of Rowlett, Texas. He was the brother of PFC Charles “Bo” Wesley Axe KIA, Coxswain James Ray Axe, Elsie Louise “Rusty” Axe, and Carl R. Axe Jr. Maurice was educated in Garland, Texas. Before the war he was employed at Liberty Film Lines. He entered the service on October 22, 1942, at the age of 20. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 10 inches tall weighed 152 he had brown eyes and brown hair. He was assigned to Signal Corps. Sgt. S/Sgt Maurice Axe served overseas from January 31, 1944, to October 12, 1945, in Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He served in the United States from November 5, 1942, to January 31, 1944. Received discharge Oct. 27, 1945. After the war he married Juanita Ruth “Nita” McMillan Axe on May 18, 1947. He had two children during his marriage. After the war he worked in Real Estate. He died on September 29, 1978, in Grayson, Texas, at the age of 56, and was buried in Dallas, Texas.
