PFC Alton Harderson 38731310 KIA
Private First Class Alton Veston Harderson 38731310 US Army KIA. He was born on April 2, 1926, in Oark, Arkansas, the son of Earl Harderson and Lillie May Ritchie Harderson. He had three brothers and two sisters. In 1940 he was living in Los Angeles, California, But he move back to Oark, Arkansas before entering the US Army. He entered the US Army on August 9, 1944 at the age of 18, at Camp Joseph T Robinson in Little Rock, Arkansas. At the time of his enlistment he was 5 foot 5 inches tall weighed 140 pounds had blue eyes and blonde hair and had a scar in the center of his forehead. He served in Company G, 398th Infantry Regiment, 100th Infantry Division. He would have fought with them in the campaigns of RHINELAND, ARDENNES-ALSACE, and CENTRAL EUROPE. He died on April 6, 1945, four days after his 19th birthday. He died while Company G, was fighting in the vicinity of Jagstfeld Germany. This was some of the hardest fighting that Company G had in World War Two. According to G Companies chronicle on April 6, 1945 the company “ loss of 60% of the company’s strength in a little less than 8 hours.” Also, according to this chronicle “April 6th will linger in the minds of all of us long after many of our other combat experiences are forgotten.” PFC Harderson was buried in Avord, Cher, France.
